Lab Animal Technician - Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health

OverviewThe Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health (IDGH) combines four important areas of expertise within Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
These are public/population health, international medicine, wildlife and conservation medicine, and infectious disease research.
The alignment of these areas promotes cross-disciplinary strengths that are important in achieving the department's goal of improving human, animal and ecosystem health locally, nationally and globally.
What You'll DoAs a Lab Animal Technician, you will be play a critical role in the department, providing your skills in a variety of laboratory and animal-model related tasks under the supervision of the principal investigators.
Responsibilities include:
Animal care and husbandry (feeding, cleaning, observing); Experimental setup (organizing supplies, sterilizing instruments); Performance of research studies (inoculating animals, administering therapeutics, sampling, observing and scoring animals for changes in health status, necropsying, collecting and processing tissues); Organizing and cleaning laboratory; Ordering animals and supplies; Maintaining animal records Tissue culture; Immunoassays; PCR; Protein purification; Data collection and analysis; Preparation of study reports; Record-keeping; Laboratory cleaning, organization and maintenance; Equipment maintenance and cleaning; Reagent preparationSome weekend work and late evening work may be required.
What We're Looking ForBasic Requirements:

Qualifications:
Infectious disease experience preferred.
Experience with bovine and rodents.
Pay RangeMinimum $19.
80, Midpoint $23.
55, Maximum $27.
30 Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
Recommended Skills Data Collection Maintenance Medicine Inoculation Protein Purification Infectious Diseases Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
